The Origins of Practice In Harmony

Parents of my students expressed worries & fears aloud for the first time

Last year I offered support and a fresh perspective to a group of parents in a series of Parent Meetings. Parents of my students expressed worries and fears aloud for the first time. Coming together as a community gave them courage to reveal their vulnerabilities and lowest moments, while others nodded in sympathetic affirmation.

Together, we explored new ways to approach old problems, inspired one another to think differently, challenge assumptions, and change patterns. After only a few meetings, every family noticed easier practices and improved relationships with their children - away from their instruments, too!

I noticed a profound shift in lessons; the students were more enthusiastic and the parents more relaxed. I could see it and feel it - even on Zoom. Inspired by the feedback from this first group of parents, I decided to create a program to help families navigate the unpredictable landscape of daily practice.
